Ethical Decisions and Dilemmas in Community Practice
Date: Sep 15, 2025
Time: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM CDT
Zoom
Description: In today’s increasingly polarized political climate, community social workers often face ethical dilemmas where policy, law, and professional values may conflict. This interactive two-hour training will explore how to navigate ethical decisions when serving diverse and historically marginalized communities, including Black and Latinx older adults, undocumented immigrants, low-income populations, Medicaid recipients, and LGBTQ+ individuals. Using the NASW Code of Ethics and Dolgoff’s Ethical Decision-Making Hierarchy, participants will learn strategies for ethically responding to real-world challenges such as service restrictions, discriminatory laws, and funding cuts. Through case study analysis and group problem-solving, attendees will strengthen their ability to advocate for and ethically support vulnerable clients amidst systemic injustice.
