Increasing Access to Neuroaffirmative Autism and ADHD Assessment
Date: Wednesday, April 17th
Time: 10-11:00 AM
Zoom
Description: During this presentation, Darlene will demystify the testing psychologist's process for the evaluation of Autism and ADHD. You will gain an introductory understanding of the assessments available for these purposes, the qualifications for using them, the use of psychometrically validated instruments in the differential process, and cultural/linguistic/cognitive/gender considerations in the selection of assessments for the individual you are testing. If you have ever considered assessment, this will be an opportunity to learn more. Her goal is to break down barriers to continuing education and, in doing so, promote access to much-needed services.
Presenter: Darlene Sousa, LEP
After a career in social services and mental health, Darlene returned to graduate school seventeen years ago to become a testing psychologist, driven by the challenges she faced as a parent of a child with learning differences. She saw and experienced for herself as a neurodivergent person, how systems of support did not connect and held different requirements for entry, leaving families lost. She's since found her path through private practice, consulting, and advocacy.
