SENDCAA's Whole Family Approach

Description: SENDCAA has launched two programs since 2020 that are specifically guided by a Whole Family Approach. The Whole Family Approach (WFA) is a new approach to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty. The theory behind a whole family approach is when services are integrated to meet the needs of parents and children together, efficiency is improved, and outcomes are enhanced for parents, children, and families. Generally, Whole Family Approach strategies: Provide parents with high-quality financial education, family-supporting-wage workforce development services, and access to other supports that enable them to achieve financial stability. Ensure children’s access to high-quality early childhood development, and to enriching, quality school and education experiences as they grow older. Structure strong parent engagement strategies, including parent education and social-emotional supports, to help them meet the health and developmental needs of their children – as well as their own. Whole Family Coaching focuses on strengths and provides participants with the choice to guide their services.  

SENDCAA launched Career Coaching in 2020 guided by Whole Family Approach, applying all of the core concepts above to serving families enrolled into the program. The outcomes of those first two years can show the long-term impacts for families economic mobility towards self-sufficiency and breaking cycles of poverty for future generations. Career Coaches walk alongside families, lifting up their inherent strengths, braiding together needed resources to reduce barriers, and aligning services to support both parents and children successful outcomes. 

Due to the success of Career Coaching, SENDCAA was able to expand our capacity and reach to serve more families by launching Whole Family Coaching in 2022. 
Our hope is to share the impact of both of these programs that are guided by the Whole Family Approach.
