Description: Working with LGBTQ+ clients and their families requires social workers to be aware of multiple ethical codes and cultural competency standards. Practitioners address issues around homophobia, transphobia, heteronormativity, gender identity, discrimination, religious or spiritual beliefs, and sexuality in themselves, society, and their clients. This ethics workshop will cover applicable codes and cultural competence standards, definitions of gender, gender identity, sex, and sexuality, confidentiality considerations, language usage, practitioner bias, and steps for resolving ethical dilemmas.
