Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy & Dissociative Disorders
Date: Monday, June 26th from 12:00 to 1:00 PM CST (10 AM - 11:00 AM PST)
Speaker: Jordan Dobrowski, LCSW (they/them)
Description: Originally developed as a safer drug for anesthesia, ketamine is often referred to as an atypical psychedelic and dissociative anesthetic. This leads some to question its appropriateness for use in treating trauma-disorders where dissociation may be a symptom people actually want to eliminate. This course will discuss the differences between psychedelic dissociation and trauma-induced dissociation, the therapeutic potential of ketamine for trauma survivors, and best practices for working with dissociation.
