The Racial, Social, and Economic Inequities of Mental Health Treatment
Date: Wednesday June 1st, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM CST
Speaker: Valerie Wise, LCSW, CADC, CBLC
Description: The issue of mental illness among people of color is becoming more prominent in the news, but it is a problem that has never been adequately addressed within or without communities of color. This is due to the stigma of mental illness which—when added to the other issues of being part of socially, racially, economically, and historically marginalized and discriminated groups—the topic of mental illness is not a welcomed one. This Southern District cultural competency CEU training will focus on the racial, social, and economic inequities of mental health treatment among people of color.
