Ethical Issues in Police Social Work
Social workers are increasingly employed in law enforcement settings. This workshop will explore ethical challenges social workers may face when working with institutions criticized for having oppressive and racist systems. In addition, there are many issues unique to this setting including confidentiality concerns, documentation, integrity, scope of practice issues, and self-care concerns.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will understand the ethical challenges of effective social work practice in law enforcement settings.

  • Participants will identify strategies to build ethically strong practice standards in law enforcement organizations.

  • Participants will demonstrate the ability to identify and analyze ethical dilemmas in police social work practice.
