Under a new federal rule that went into effect on January 1, 2022, health providers, including clinical social workers, must provide good faith estimates (GFEs) to uninsured and self-pay patients. The rule, which was issued in late 2021, specifies the types of information that must be included in GFEs and timeframes for delivery. It also specifies a dispute resolution process that patients can pursue if they receive a bill that exceeds an estimate by $400 or more. This webinar will:

  • Outline the rule’s provisions as they relate to clinical social workers
  • Discuss advocacy efforts NASW is undertaking to address concerns with the rule
  • Look at what’s on the horizon in the future regarding the provision of GFEs for patients who intend to use their health insurance
