Description: This presentation provides an introduction to immigration trauma and the role community programs and volunteer professionals can play in promoting healing and integration among new refugee and immigrant arrivals. Participants will learn about the major tenets of trauma-informed care, common trauma reactions, and effective responses that embody respect, compassion, and self-awareness. Suggestions for cultivating trauma-informed professionals and organizations will also be shared.
